(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) today announced $4,000,000 in federal grant money for the Bainbridge-Seattle Ferry System.
The grants, provided by the US Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration, which is funded by Senator Murray's Transportation spending bill, will be used to replace aging timber structures. Replacing these structures will in turn support larger and heavier vessels, increase the safety of loading operations, and provide better, more reliable service.
"I am pleased to announce this federal grant money for one of the most important transportation systems in our state," Senator Murray said. "By improving the infrastructure of the Bainbridge-Seattle Ferry System, we will are improving safety and service for our families and community."
