Murray on Bipartisan Budget/Tax Cut Deal: Good Deal for Washington State Families, Small Business Owners

Coming on heels of latest bipartisan budget deal, spending and tax cut deal restores and expands critical investments in Washington state priorities: jobs, veterans, education, national security, health care, innovation, transportation, Hanford cleanup, and more

Permanently extends key working family and small business tax cuts: Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, College Tuition Credit, R&D Tax Credit, and more

Permanent extension of Washington state sales tax deduction: Huge win for Washington state taxpayers

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) released the following statement on the bipartisan Appropriations Omnibus and tax cut extension deal, which passed the full Senate today.

“This is a good deal for Washington state families, workers, small business owners, and our economy. By investing in middle class and local priorities and permanently extending tax cuts for Washington state families and small business owners, this deal is another important step in our work to create jobs and grow the economy from the middle out, not the top down.

“I fought to make sure Washington state was treated fairly in this Republican Congress and that our families and small business owners had a seat at the table when these federal investment and tax cut decisions were made. These aren’t the budget and tax bills I would write on my own and I have some serious concerns with some of the policy provisions included. But I was proud to work with Democrats and Republicans to make sure this deal works for Washington state families and small business owners.”
