As child care providers, schools, and colleges are discussing how to safely reopen, I want to hear from Washington state educators, students, and parents.

This is a hugely uncertain time for educators, students, parents, and caregivers across Washington state, and as a mother and grandmother I share your anxieties. As the school year fast approaches and families returning to work search for child care, I’m fighting tooth and nail for Washington state families—but I need to hear from you too!

As you probably know, Secretary DeVos and President Trump have threatened to withhold federal funds if schools don’t reopen physically. This is unacceptable. Whether schools open in-person, remotely, or a hybrid of both—it’s going to take a significant amount of federal funding to make sure families stay safe, and students stay learning.

That’s why I’m fighting to pass my $430 billion Coronavirus Child Care and Education Relief Act, which will provide schools and child care centers with the money they need to continue to serve students and children safely and begin to address the longstanding educational disparities that the pandemic has exacerbatedBut I need your help. By speaking out and lifting your voice, you can show Secretary DeVos, Republicans, and President Trump that the safety of students, educators, and families come first.

Please, share your story with me so your voice can be heard in the other Washington.
