(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), a member of the Senate Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee, announced $314.5 million for military installations in Washington state. The funding will be used to make improvements to a number of installations that facilitate training and care for service members and their families. The funding is also expected to create family-wage construction jobs in communities throughout the state.  The funding was included in the Military Construction Appropriations bill.

“Investing in our state’s military installations is not only an investment in our nation’s defense, but also in the economic well-being of our communities and the training of our servicemembers,” said Senator Murray. “This funding will create jobs, boost our local economies and ensure Washington state remains home to some of our country’s finest military facilities.”

The bill passed by the Military Appropriations Subcommittee today included $314.5 million for investments at Washington state military facilities:

Bangor -  $56.8 million

Fort Lewis - $180.6 million

Tacoma -  $25 million

Bremerton -  $19.1 million

Yakima -  $17.5 million

McChord -  $10.4 million

Fairchild -  $4.8 million

The Military Construction Appropriations Bill passed the Military Appropriations Subcommittee, which Senator Murray sits on, today. Next, it will be voted on by the full Appropriations Committee. It will then be voted on by the full Senate.
