The grants, provided by the Federal Highway Administration, which is funded by Senator Murray's Transportation spending bill, will be used to construct grade separations and support the Yakima Bridge Replacement Project.
"These grants will help address some of the most troubling transportation problems Yakima residents face on a daily basis," Senator Murray said. "Serving as Chair of the Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee has allowed me to raise the profile of Yakima's transportation needs and provide money to free Yakima residents from persistent, lengthy and frustrating train and bridge delays. I am honored to announce these grants for such important projects in Yakima."
Summary of projects receiving grant money:
- Yakima Grade Separation Program, $3,884,000
- Yakima River (SR 240), $4,234,070
Senator Murray secured $4 million in earmarked funding in last year's Transportation Spending bill.
