Forum to address telecommunications issues affecting Northeast Washington's small and rural communities

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – In response to a growing need for advanced telecommunications services in small and rural communities, Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) will host the Northeast Washington Regional Telecommunications Conference in Colville, WA on April 18th. This event will focus on the telecommunications needs of Ferry, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Spokane and Stevens counties.

"While I'm proud our state is a leader in high technology, many parts of Washington still do not have access to advanced telecommunications. Washington's small and rural communities often have a hard time getting the services they need, and that's why I am coming to Colville," Murray said.

Murray continued, "The goal of the Conference is to bring communities together to share information, success stories, challenges and strategies so we can work together to ensure all communities gain access to advanced telecommunication services -- and can take advantage of the business, education, health care and other opportunities this technology makes possible," Murray said.

The Conference will take place on Wednesday, April 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the Community Colleges of Spokane Conference Center in Colville, WA.
