(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Today House and Senate negotiators reached agreement on election reform legislation authorizing $3.9 billion over three years for improving voting equipment, preventing voter fraud and updating election procedures throughout the nation.

Senators Murray and Cantwell worked hard to ensure that Washington state's vote-by-mail system is preserved and protected.

"There is no right more fundamental to a democracy than the right to vote. Today's agreement ensures that when people cast their votes, their votes will count. At the same time, this agreement will protect Washington state's vote by mail system and enable our citizens to participate and have their voices heard."
