(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) today announced $1,586,092 in federal grant money for a portion of the Olympic Discovery Trail near Lake Crescent.

The grants, provided by the US Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration, which is funded by Senator Murray's Transportation spending bill, will be used to reopen six miles of the historic route of the WWI Spruce Railroad grade near Lake Crescent.

"I am pleased to announce this federal grant money for the Olympic Discovery Trail," Senator Murray said. "In restoring this notable section of the Discovery Trail we are reopening a piece of history to our children. As Chair of the Transportation Appropriations Committee, I worked to increase transportation funding and I am honored to announce this grant for such an important public resource."
