WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Al Franken (D-MN), Patty Murray (D-WA), and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) today joined in a friendly wager on the NFL Wild Card game between the #3 seeded Minnesota Vikings and #6 seeded Seattle Seahawks this weekend in Minnesota. Klobuchar and Franken wagered walleye and Minnesota’s Caribou Coffee while Murray and Cantwell offered salmon and coffee from Washington’s Starbucks. The game will be played Sunday, January 10th at 12:00pm CT/10:00am PT.

“The formidable Vikings are playing their best football at just the right time,” Klobuchar said. “In the "salmon/walleye with a cup of java on the side" Sunday showdown, the Vikings will triumph and my Washington State Senate colleagues will soon learn that while we can't ice fish for salmon in Minnesota, we like grilling it."

“As a lifelong Vikings fan—from Fran Tarkenton to Teddy Bridgewater, and even Vikings legend Brett Favre—I’ve always bet on the purple,” Franken said. “And today’s no different. We went into Lambeau Field last weekend and beat the Green Bay Packers, winning our first NFC North title in more than half a decade, and now I’m looking forward to dropping the red-hot Seahawks. Skol!”

“We’ve seen the Seahawks come back in a big way this season, and I think we can expect the momentum to keep up this weekend,” said Senator Murray. “We are really looking forward to celebrating this playoff win with some Minnesota goods from our colleagues after what I’m sure will be a valiant effort against the Hawks and unstoppable 12th man spirit.”‎‎

“This will be a good game, but the Seahawks and 12th MAN won't be stopped. I am looking forward to enjoying some Minnesota walleye and Caribou coffee after the Seahawks beat the Vikings on their home turf,” said Senator Cantwell. “Though it’s a shame my Minnesota colleagues won’t be able to savor Washington’s world-class salmon or brew some Starbucks coffee. Go Hawks!‎"
