Grant will help rehabilitate runway at Spokane area airport

(WASHINGTON, DC) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) today announced $1.8 million in federal funding to repair the runway at Spokane's Felts Field. The Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant, approved by the Federal Aviation Administration, will be released within the week.

"Maintaining the function and safety of Washington's runways is a top priority," Murray said. "Thanks to these grants, Felts Field can make the improvements it needs to run safely, at full capacity and expand as an important airport facility in the Spokane area."

Senator Murray secured the funding for the runway improvements at Felts Field as part of the Fiscal Year 2001 transportation appropriations bill. Senator Murray is the highest-ranking Democrat on the Transportation subcommittee of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
