New facility will improve water quality, protect health of residents

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) today announced $1,432,600 in loans and grants to support the construction of a new wastewater facility for the town of Pe Ell. Provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, these dollars will expand the current facility to better treat wastewater and protect the health of local residents.

"These funds will help to provide clean, affordable drinking water to the residents of Pe Ell," Senator Murray said. "I'm pleased that local communities in Lewis County will now have the resources they need to keep their families and communities healthy."

The current wastewater facility for the town of Pe Ell is severely undersized for current flows. During wet weather months the capacity has been exceeded, causing untreated sewage to flow into the nearby Chehalis River.
