Amendment co-sponsored by Murray passes unanimously

(WASHINGTON, DC) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash) today cosponsored a Senate amendment condemning any acts of violence or discrimination against Arab-Americans and American Muslims. The amendment, an attachment to the 2002 Commerce, Justice, State and Judiciary Appropriations bill, passed the Senate unanimously by a vote of 98-0.

"This week our country faced a terrible disaster, but we must not compound this tragedy by responding with racist attacks against innocent Americans," Murray said. "I want to thank Senator Harkin for offering this important amendment reminding us that while others may try to divide us, now is the time for all Americans to join together."
