Calls Sound Transit an important part of region's transportation solution

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) today applauded the Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) decision to move ahead with a final design for Sound Transit's Link Light Rail.

The decision is an important step towards putting Light Rail back on track to receiving vital federal support.

"Sound Transit is an important piece of the overall solution to the traffic woes in the Puget Sound," Senator Murray said. "Today's decision shows that Light Rail is back on track. It is another indication that Sound Transit is moving in the right direction."

The FTA's signing of the Record of Decision (ROD), is the federal government's determination that all federal environmental requirements – as legislated in the National Environmental Policy Act – have been satisfied for the construction of the 14-mile Initial Segment of the Central Link light rail. The ROD is a pre-requisite to secure federal funding for the Central Link projects.
