Patty in the News

FERNDALE, Wash. -- U.S. Senator Patty Murray visited Whatcom County on Tuesday, touring Alcoa Intalco Works near Ferndale.

Murray touted her work with the U.S. Department of Energy to help broker a deal with the Bonneville Power Administration to lower energy rates and keep the aluminum smelter operating.

However, she says public utility districts in the state are challenging that agreement.

Murray spoke with employees at the Ferndale facility and got an update on operations there.

She says she was very impressed by the workers at the smelter, and pledges to continue to “go to bat” for them to preserve their jobs.
