The Longview Housing Authority will get $132,000 in federal housing vouchers to help homeless veterans and their families move into stable housing.
U.S. Sen. Patty Murray (D-Washington) announced Tuesday that 25 housing vouchers worth about $7,500 each will be allocated to the local area.
"Each of these vouchers represents a year's rent for someone who has sacrificed for our nation but is now struggling to find housing," Murray said in a press release.
Tuesday's announcement is part of an initial allocation of $59 million of the $75 million total to be distributed to local public housing agencies in all 50 states and will provide help to an estimated 10,000 veterans.
