ICYMI: Murray and McEnerny-Ogle Hail Coast Guard Approval of Fixed Span I-5 Bridge Proposal
Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement celebrating the news that the Department of Transportation has signed the Record of Decision for the Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) for the I-5 bridge replacement between Vancouver and Portland.
“Today’s news is a significant milestone and allows this project to continue moving forward. This growing momentum reflects the years of hard work our region has done to ensure this bridge finally gets replaced. While there is still plenty to do to get this project over the finish line and keep the Pacific Northwest moving forward—this is good news. No one will work harder than me to protect federal investment in this project and to keep this work on track. I remain committed to partnering with state and local leaders to replace the I-5 bridge as quickly as possible for a faster—and safer—commute.”
