HEALTH CARE: Murray Applauds Federal Investments in Patient-Centered Medical Homes in Washington State

Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) applauded an announcement from Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sylvia Burwell awarding a total of $1.5 million in Affordable Care Act funding for facility improvements at six Washington state health centers.

The awards are intended to support a patient-centered medical home delivery model, which enhances care by encouraging team-based coordination in a central location, and allows patients to receive treatment for multiple conditions at once.

“Patient-centered medical homes help combine a family doctor’s personalized approach with innovative information technology and greater efficiency,” said Senator Murray. “This funding will help improve access to primary care and ensure families and communities in Washington state get the high-quality treatment they need and deserve.”
