Murray Gains New Position to Help Washington’s Veterans, Military Families and Housing Needs

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray today announced that she has been named to the Military Construction and Veterans’ Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee.

The Senate today restructured the Senate Appropriations Committee giving Murray the new subcommittee assignment.

“I am excited about this new opportunity to continue to fight for Washington state’s men and women in uniform and their families,” Senator Murray said. “With our military’s needs at the fore and veterans returning home to every corner of our state, my new position will be another opportunity to champion the needs of our state.”

The Senate restructuring also added Housing and the Judiciary to the Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee on which she remains the highest ranking Democrat.

“Housing is one of the most important but least talked about challenges here in the Senate. I look forward to being a voice for Washington state families in this tight budget year,” Murray said.
