(Washington D.C.) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) today announced she included $1 million in a Senate spending bill to support the construction of a new Emergency Response Center in Sprague, Washington. The new center will replace an existing building that is suffering from structural damage to the roof and walls. Lincoln County Fire District #1 responds to emergencies along the I-90 corridor, for which it receives no revenues, and this funding will provide the initial support to replace the current building.
“I fought to include funding to support a new Emergency Operations Center in Lincoln County, which is a priority for the region” said Senator Patty Murray. “This funding will allow the district to move forward with a critical project, while creating jobs and providing a boost to the local economy.”
“The Sprague Emergency Response center will provide the facilities necessary to safely and efficiently house the emergency equipment and personnel that are vitally important to the protection of our community and the thousands of persons who travel through here each day,” said Chief Scott Clemenson, Lincoln County Fire District #1.
Senator Murray is a senior member of the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee. The funding was announced today after the Senate Appropriations Committee met to consider the Fiscal Year 2010 Homeland Security Appropriations bill.
