Senator Murray Statement on President Biden’s Visit to Washington state

ICYMI: Ahead of President Biden’s Visit, Senator Murray Pushes Plan to Lower Families’ Child Care Costs at West Seattle Child Care Center – MORE HERE

(Seattle, WA) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, issued the following statement on President Biden’s visit to Washington state. Senator Murray will join President Biden during tomorrow’s events, including an event focused on lowering costs for Americans, specifically by bringing down prescription drug costs, such as insulin.

“At a time when people are paying more at the pump or grocery store—my focus is on passing legislation that will put money back into people’s pockets. I’m fighting in the other Washington to pass policies that will lower everyday costs for families on everything from child care to prescription drugs—all fully paid for by just making the very wealthiest and giant corporations finally pay their fair share. I’m glad President Biden shares my commitment to fight inflation and lower costs for Washington state families, and I’m glad he’ll get the chance to hear directly from the people of our state.”

Ahead of President Biden’s visit, Senator Murray visited a child care center in West Seattle, outlining her child care plan to bring down costs for families, bring up wages for workers, and give parents more child care options—all fully paid for by making the wealthiest pay their fair share. Senator Murray discussed how this plan won’t just help families and lower their costs: it will help parents go back to work, it will help small businesses fill positions, it will help close gaps in our supply chain, and it will boost our whole economy.
