Senator Murray’s Statement on Change in Leadership at Boeing Commercial Airplanes

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) made the following statement after Boeing announced that Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Scott Carson will retire and that he will be replaced by Boeing Integrated Defense Systems President and CEO Jim Albaugh.

“Scott Carson has been an extraordinary leader in building the success of the Boeing Company in Washington state. His years of guidance at Boeing have resulted in tremendous contributions to our region’s capabilities, workforce and infrastructure and are a big reason why Washington state remains the nation’s aerospace leader.

“I’d also like to congratulate new CEO Jim Albaugh. Jim is a talented and experienced executive who I have partnered with to ensure that Boeing continues to provide our military with the planes and equipment that protect our service members and nation.  As Jim takes over for Scott, I look forward to making new strides to build on Boeing’s deep roots in our state.

“I know that Jim has a real understanding of the contributions that our state has made to the achievements of Boeing. Since 1916, we have steadily built up the workforce and expertise that have helped make Boeing the industry leader they are today. As we move forward, I will continue to work to ensure that Boeing’s leadership understands that Washington state is second to none in designing and building the world’s best planes.”
