Senator Murray’s Statement on the Columbia River Treaty Recommendations

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Entity Regional Recommendation for the Future of the Columbia River Treaty after 2024, which was delivered to the U.S. Department of State and the Administration, today, December 13, 2013.

“I am encouraged that regional stakeholders have reached a consensus on recommendations to modernize the Columbia River Treaty.  After a multi-year process, it is clear the Treaty in its current form needs to be updated to meet the modern-day issues facing the Columbia River Basin, the greater Northwest region, and the nation.

“As this process shifts to the Administration, I will work closely with the State Department to ensure all regional stakeholders can offer their expertise and input.”
