SUPER BOWL: Washington, Colorado Senators Bet Local Goods on Seahawks v. Broncos Super Bowl Matchup

U.S. Senators Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Mark Udall (D-Colo.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) wagered locally produced and job-creating products from the Centennial State and the Evergreen State on the outcome of Super Bowl XLVIII. The Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks will face off on Sunday, Feb. 2, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

“Super Bowl XLVIII will belong to the XIIth Man,” Murray and Cantwell said. “We look forward to celebrating with this generous offer of Rocky Mountain products – along with some Skittles, of course. We are more than happy to put some of the finest culinary products in the Northwest on the line, in order to show off the success of Washington state’s small businessmen and women.  We both look forward to a Sunday filled with lots of cheering as the Seahawks march toward the franchise’s first ever Super Bowl Championship.”

“Colorado is #UnitedInOrange because we have the best football team in the nation. We are confident Peyton Manning, Champ Bailey and the AFC champion Broncos will bring home the Lombardi Trophy, which is why we are happy to highlight Colorado’s bison ranchers, orchard growers and restaurants,” Bennet and Udall said. “We look forward to trying Washington’s finest products when the Broncos win Super Bowl XLVIII — it’ll make the Broncos championship that much more enjoyable.”

Murray and Cantwell will give Bennet and Udall smoked salmon from the Nisqually Indian Tribe, a selection of sauces and honey from Brush Prairie, Wash.-based Honey Ridge Farms, and ‘12th Man’ cupcakes from Cupcake Royale in Seattle if the Broncos win the matchup. Bennet and Udall will give Murray and Cantwell Colorado-raised bison from Tony’s Market, Palisade-grown peaches and a gift certificate to Elway’s restaurant if the Seahawks prevail.
