WASHOUGAL: Murray Announces $3 Million Recovery Act Loan to Construct Reservoir

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) announced that the City of Washougal will receive a $3,030,000 loan to construct a one million gallon water reservoir from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The City of Washougal has experienced rapid growth and is in need of additional water storage to meet the expanding population.  ARRA funds will be used to fully fund the purchase and installation of the new water reservoir.

“This is a great example of the Recovery Act jump-starting a local project that will create jobs and improve the local economy,” said Senator Murray. “This funding will allow Washougal to move forward with a top local priority – expanding its water system for a growing population.”

As a senior member of the Senate Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee, Senator Murray fought for funding for water infrastructure improvements to be included in the Recovery Act.  Senator Murray voted to pass the Recovery Act on February 13th. The bill was signed into law by President Obama on February 17th.
